New year, new you!

“New Year, New You!”… have you promised that yet?
As we overcome the festive season and contemplate our New Year resolutions a lot of individuals plan to loose weight, eat healthy and increase exercise activity.
In order to make this resolution come to fruition, here are some helpful tips:

* What is your SMART goal, remember break down your general goal and make it specific, ie: General goal: become fitter Specific goal: complete a 5km fun run
* Imagine yourself in great physical health and fitness 3 years from now. How do you look and feel?
* What would be your ideal weight?
* How much exercise would you do each week?
Finally, find someone to help support you through your plan whether it be a personal trainer or a friend or a family member.
Having social support is very important, a recent study by Ball et al in Victoria, Australia showed that social support helped woman in their eating behaviour and physical activity.
